Rye police cruiser damaged in wild police chase of stolen cars

A wild police chase involving stolen cars raced down Rye Street on Wednesday.

Police say they were called to the area of ​​Forest Avenue and Playland Parkway for a report of a stolen vehicle.

When the police tried to stop the car, the driver drove off.

Midway through the pursuit, police say a car that has not yet been reported stolen from a residence in Rye crashed into the police vehicle at the intersection of Midland Avenue and Peck Avenue.

A second stolen car from Connecticut loaded the occupants and fled on I-95 northbound into Connecticut.

The Rai employee involved in the crash was not seriously injured.

Rai’s stolen car was found to be unlocked with keys in the center console. Police are imploring residents to lock their cars and bring their key fob inside.
