Man dies after being struck by car in hit and run on Parkway East

A 24-year-old man is dead after a car hit him near Parkway East. The forensic medical service identified him as Zaonte Davis, 24, of Clarton. State police say the crash happened shortly after 2:15 a.m. in the western lanes of Parkway East near the Oakland / Brentwood exit at mile marker 73. Investigators say the vehicle Davis was driving became disabled on the east side on Parkway. Davis then called an acquaintance for help and tried to cross all lanes when he was hit by an unknown vehicle in the center lane on the west side of the road. Davis was subsequently hit a second time by another unknown vehicle. Dennis Dull said he was driving through the area at the time and witnessed the crash from a distance before approaching it. “I saw all the cars basically stop and move off the road and people ran out,” Dull said. There were about three of the four women who did chest compressions and CPR. I actually stopped, I was in the opposite direction. “Police say none of the vehicles stopped to help or provide information.” We are looking for the public to help with this, so if you were in the area at the time or saw a 376 vehicle with any damage, have something to that effect, call us at the Pittsburgh Barracks and we’ll pass that information on to investigators. ” “I saw from a distance almost what happened, and when I got closer I had a few seconds or a few minutes to be a part of someone’s experience or his life, his tragedy. I just saw the hopeful look in my eyes.” “I think everyone denied it,” Dull told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4. The state police is continuing its investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Pennsylvania Police at 412-299-1607.
