3 rescued from cars trapped in St. Clair County floodwaters

ST. CLAY COUNTY, Illinois – There have been a number of water rescue operations in St. Clair County after rains caused flooding on Wednesday night, authorities said.

An incident occurred near Scott Air Force Base. Water rushed over Keck Road near Road 158 around 7:30 p.m., detaining several cars.

While most of the cars managed to get out, the Belleville Fire Department’s rescue team rescued one person. The victim received medical treatment and was released on the spot.

About 16 miles away, two women and a dog were rescued from a trapped vehicle in block 6300 on Robinson School Road in New Athens. Fire crews Smithton and Friberg helped with the rescue.
